Hello from Arizona!
I recently flew down to Arizona on Wednesday and have now been able to practice golf outside for the past two days. I enjoyed my last week home but was quite anxious to head south to start sharpening up my golf game. My last day home certainly made my want to be in AZ much bigger. I woke up Wednesday morning to see about 5-6 inches of snow had fallen over night. After shoveling out my car I went to Sports 24 for one final workout before flying out. Once I came home the plow had gone through our subdivision and I then helped my mom shovel the large pile in front of our driveway. It was entertaining to think I'm shoveling snow right now but later at night I'll be in AZ where it is snow free :)
My flight went smoothly and it was non-stop! When I arrived in AZ I could walk outside of the airport in just a long sleeve with no jacket and no snow in sight. This week I'm staying with a former teammate of mine and it has been fun! It feels just like when we were in Madison practicing before tournaments and rooming together while at tournaments. It hasn't been real warm up, mostly around 65 which is a little cool but I know it's much better than at home in the 20s. The forecast says it should warm up by this weekend. I did enjoy a good little laugh of seeing some guys at the golf course wearing winter hats while out golfing. I know 65 isn't warm here but I never thought to see actual winter hats being worn during that temperature.
Thursday was my first day of practice at the course and I felt like a little kid in a candy shop, full of excitement. I wasn't sure what part of my game I wanted to go practice first! I could have stayed outside and practiced all day. So far my golf game is starting to feel better. Had to shake a lil rust off my short game/putting but it felt a lot better yesterday! I'm truly enjoying my time out in AZ and the good quality practice at a golf course rather than on mats and artificial turf. Tuesday the 11th is the entry deadline for the first Symetra event of the season. As of right now I'm #100 on the list and the field is limited to only 120 players. The tournament date is Feb. 21-23. Fingers crossed I stay inside of 120! I'll let you know next week what the outcome will be :)
